Glossary term for X-Chromosome Test

X-Chromosome Test

This is one of the two chromosomes which determine sex in most mammals including humans.  Females have a DNA that is characterised by two X-chromosomes, whilst males have only one of these x-chromosomes paired with a Y-chromosome. In the human cell, the Y-chromosome is only around 2% of its cell genetic material.  The X-chromosome contains more genetic information and constitutes approximately 5% of the DNA in a cell. Testing the relationship between two females is done by analysis of the X-chromosome.  Our DNA Relationship Testing services offer more information about X-Chromosome Testing.
