X chromosome Testing

Posted on | March 16, 2011 | No Comments

X chromosome testing is a great way of knowing whether female sibling share the same biological father. The X test (as it is sometimes referred to) can only be done between females. The test can be done instead of a paternity DNA test.

Males cannot do an X test to determine if they share the same father. Males have 23 XY chromosome pairs (they inherit an X chromosome from their mother and a Y chromosome from their father. This makes it clear that an X test cannot use to verify paternity between alleged male siblings because males inherit the Y chromosome from their father and the X chromosome from the mother. Females, on the other hand, inherit one X chromosome from the father and one X chromosome from the mother.

When females siblings with different mothers want to know if they share the same father they can do an X Chromosome test; the mother’s sample can help give a stronger result and would be recommended but the test can be done without a known mother’s sample. If the females in question want to establish paternity and share the same mother, they will have to provide the mother’s sample. The test will not be conclusive if the mother’s sample is not included in the test.

In cases where the mother’s DNA sample is included in this relationship DNA test, it becomes possible to determine which chromosome was inherit from the mother and thus, scientists can then compare just the X chromosome inherit from the father

The X chromosome test is a very accurate test and will give you the answer you need to that question “do we share the same father?”

75 year old woman wants a Paternity Test

Posted on | February 17, 2011 | No Comments

It is really never too late! A 75 year old woman in Italy has asked for a paternity test in a quest to find out who his father is. The woman’s mother had often spoken of a relationship she had had and which left her pregnant with the woman who is now 75. The Alleged father, is not, however, dead. He is still alive today and is almost a hundred years old.

A DNA Paternity test was carried out and confirmed that the 100 year old man was in fact the 75 year old woman’s father. The test was a court ordered test and followed all the proceeding as necessary to such a test. But problems arose. The alleged father has asked for the results of the test to be invalidated as the DNA testing procedure was not followed correctly.

The issue arising according to lawyers standing for the alleged father relates to the method of DNA sample collection. In this case, it was done by means of oral mouth swabs. The alleged father claims to have not at any point given his consent for the test- his lawyers are asking for the legal DNA test results to be invalidated.

Paternity testing Accuracy

Paternity DNA testing is very reliable once the DNA profiles of the father and child have been extracted. If we speak of paternity testing accuracy, we can easily state the following figures. If the alleged father is the child’s biological father, the test will show with 99.99% accuracy that the man in question is the child’s true father. If the tested father is not the child’s biological father, then the result will show a 0% inclusion. A paternity test is essentially, the only conclusive mean available for knowing who the father of a child is.

DNA Testing

Here we have just a few pointers regarding DNA testing and some misconceptions which are really commonplace. “DNA” is very much a word that today falls in everyone’s vocabulary bank and who has not read or heard some article about DNA testing in the news; some celebrity who was caught in a paternity dispute and had to have a paternity DNA test to sort it out.

Is our DNA really unique?

Well this is quite a myth. Your DNA compared to the first random person of your same ethnic group is give or take exactly the same, save around 2% of the total DNA which is actually different. In terms of the functions all our DNA is responsible for well a lot of our DNA is associated with no known function and appears to do very little if even anything- this is referred to as junk DNA.

For DNA testing, we are only interested in that 2% of our DNA which differs from one individual to the next. It is much more complicated than that because the regions taken are much more specific. Only identical twins have the exact same DNA profile- if two identical twins are the alleged fathers of a child it would be impossible to know which of the two is the biological father of the child.

So a biological father and child will only share certain genes but the vast bulk of their DNA will not be different from other people. However, the genes, or rather loci, tested in a paternity (test de paternitate) test leave no doubts as to whether a man is the biological dad or a child or not.

In all other cases, DNA testing for paternity is conclusive and reliable.

Former body guard says he is the father of Michael Jackson’s kid: a paternity test will ensue

Posted on | December 9, 2010 | No Comments

A former bodyguard of Michael Jackson, martial arts expert, Matt Fiddes, requires a paternity test- he claims to be the biological father of Michael Jackson of one of Michael Jackson’s children, Prince Michael II, known as Blanket. Matt Fiddes is trying to obtain access to the child in order to carry out a DNA paternity test, if the outcome is positive, Fiddes is claiming that he will try to obtain custody of the child after Katherine, the children’s grandmother, is no longer able to care for him.

According to Fiddes, Michael Jackson asked him to donate some sperm in 2001, as he wanted an ‘athletic child’. At the time, according to Fiddes, the pop star offered to pay him £500,000 sterling, which he refused. Fiddes asserts that the star never told him directly that the child was his, but, as Blanket started growing up he started noticing more and more the striking similarity between himself and the child. He said that Michael never told him himself that Blanket was his son but he took his sperm; there is marked resemblance between Fiddes and Prince.

Paternity testing: More information

Paternity testing (testy Otcovství) can be carried out by taking the samples from the alleged father child; the mother’s DNA sample can also help by enabling DNA analysts to remove her share in the genetic inheritance of the child. With the mother’s sample, the accuracy of the result increases but the test provides very accurate results even without the mother’s sample. If the alleged father is not the biological father, he will be excluded with 100% probability.

If the tested alleged father is the biological dad, the paternity test will show a proability of paternity in excess of 99.99%.

Matt Fiddes is a multi-millionaire martial arts consultant who remained friends with Jackson throughout his life, and supported him throughout all his troubles. This lends credibility to Fiddes’ claims, as he does not appear to be seeking child support or any other financial gain from this move. However, in the end, only a DNA paternity test can give him the answers he seeks and tell his if he is father to Michael Jackson’s kid.

Lil Wayne’s Paternity DNA test

Posted on | November 15, 2010 | No Comments

Hip Hop actor sensation Lil Wayne will be taking a paternity test. A Missouri woman has come forward saying that he is the father of her child. The child, she claims, was conceived back in 2002.

The Singer has been however, spending time in jail for possession of weapons. He has served a total of eight months although the initial sentence was of a year. Since Lil Wayne was in jail, the judge has postponed him taking the paternity test until he had served his sentence and left prison.

Somewhat strangely, it is Lil Wayne’s alleged daughter’s grandmother that has petitioned din court for the paternity test and in fact has succeeded in getting a court ordered paternity test. Lil Wayne already has 4 children of his own. He was supposed to take a paternity test in September 2010 but being in jail meant he was unable to do so. The judge pushed the date of the court ordered paternity test to the 9th o December.

It is not the first time Lil Wayne has been challenged with a paternity DNA test. In 2009 it seems a Los Angeles strip club dancer claimed she was carrying the singer’s child. The 28 year old already has 4 children of his own; 3 of them from different mothers.

The results of the paternity test for Lil Wayne will be probably out sometime in December or perhaps in January.

Information about the home paternity test

Posted on | October 18, 2010 | No Comments

Solving paternity doubts has never been simpler; the home paternity test has overcome many mile stones and its advantages are manifold. Many companies now offer home paternity testing; a quick browse online and you will be faced with quite a choice.

But why are so many people opting for these home paternity tests?

The answer to this question is easy. The idea of being able to do your paternity DNA test at home should appeal to many. Think of it; you remain absolutely anonymous, you don’t need to go to any doctor or pharmacy and worry about meeting a friend or neighbor to mention just some of the advantages. Most DNA testing companies further ensure anonymity by sending  home paternity test kits which indicate nothing of what is inside the kit, what it is for or the name of the company. The kit is moreover, very simple to use. All that you need is a ten second rub in the mouth with the swabs provided and there you have your DNA sample- painless, easy and providing a high success rate for laboratories.

Remember however, that a home paternity test means you collect your samples using the oral swabs in your home kit; after you have done this, you need to send the swabs off to the lab for genetic analysis.

From the moment the lab receives samples, you will not need to wait long for your results. Some companies can have them ready in as little as 5- 7 working days.

The quality of the laboratory testing is also something you should keep in mind; this should not be too difficult. All you need to find is a company that has an accredited lab. Moreover, there aren’t that many accreditations: look out for ISO 17025 or AABB or both.

You can really feel safe and reassured once you have spotted the right company to guide you and do your testing. The home paternity test has proved so successful and moreover, accurate and in terms of results.

DNA Paternity Testing featured in Eastenders

Posted on | September 28, 2010 | No Comments

Eastenders, one of the most popular TV series in the UK, has featured a DNA paternity test. The series started in 1985 and has won over its duration several awards and much praise for the producer’s ability to produce drama and renew plots so that they are fresh and entertaining.

DNA paternity testing is in huge demand. It has today become the standard means for establishing paternity. The fact that the paternity test has featured in such a widely watched soap opera has, according to some experts, prompted an increase in the sales of paternity testing. The potential fathers in the Eastender series are Jack and Ricky. Sam Mitchells requires a home paternity DNA test to solve the issue. Finally, after much hesitation and anxiety amongst the characters, the results come to be known and it is in fact revealed that Jack it the biological father of the child.

The series has actually acted in an educational way and has shown how a paternity test is actually carried out. Nowadays, the test is done using simple oral swabs. Jack and Ricky simply had to rub the swabs inside their mouths to collect their saliva and cheek cells. The same was done for the baby. The procedure is shown clearly, in all its simplicity. Moreover, besides this, one can see the painlessness of the DNA sampling procedure which is a radical change to traditional blood samples taken through medical blood draws.

Many home viewers of this popular soap opera have now learned how simple this test can be.
Several DNA testing companies now offer paternity tests at very competitive prices. Eastenders has really shown something of a very topical issue: paternity disputes, the need to establish paternity and the relevance of DNA paternity tests.

Free DNA kit for Paternity Testing in the UK

Posted on | August 24, 2010 | 2 Comments

If you are thinking of doing a paternity test in the UK, then following you inquiry you will be receiving a free DNA test kit to be able to collect your samples.  Not all companies providing DNA tests operate with this system; some might have an added charge for the kit and moreover, the actual content of the kit and the way it is put together may vary considerably.

The DNA test kit enable collection of DNA samples with the use of a mouth swab. The home-kit is normally sent by post to any address specified and can be used for most of the DNA tests available. Paternity tests, immigration tests, infidelity tests and MtDNA tests can all be done using the DNA collected using swabs.

The free DNA kit is normally only sent out after payment has been made. This is a precaution most companies take as there have been instances where kits are sent out to people who then do not go ahead with the test. In some cases involving people in the same test living in different locations (sometimes even outside the UK) more than one kit is sent out. This has proved a loss of time and money for the companies in questions when clients decided not to go ahead with testing. Hence, in order to avoid this, DNA test home kits are sent out only after having received at least a partial payment for the DNA test.

The DNA testing kit is standard for all tests and also pre-packed so as to save precious time. easyDNA always ensures to pack two swabs per person. Whether it is a paternity test being done or another test, the kit remains the same (although swabs may be added if required). Typically, these kits have each test participant’s swabs packed in their own envelope and there will be three envelopes per kit; an envelope containing the swabs for the putative father, the child and the mother. The kit also contains instructions and consent forms.

Generally, it is always recommended to send DNA samples back for your paternity test by registered mail or courier as this saves your free DNA test kit getting lost in the post with all your samples. Regarding this issue, you may wish to bear in mind the postal service where you live (especially if you do not live in the UK) as well as the time of the year (Christmas period) and the possibility of strikes.

DNA Ancestry Testing in the UK – Part I

Posted on | August 18, 2010 | No Comments

There are a number of ways of tracing your family history including DNA testing. DNA ancestry testing is a term which can involve both the specific identification of single relatives or simply locating your ethnic origins which can take you back thousands of years. Many companies offer DNA ancestry testing in the UK for ethnic origins takes you to the back of beyond, before any birth records or marriage certificates existed, and is thus an interesting choice for those who wishing to know who their very distant ancestors may be.

A DNA ancestry test can be used purely out of interest or fun, perhaps as parents you might want to enlighten your children with information they may find fascinating and give them answers regarding their ancestors they may develop later in life. On a more serious note, you may have heard or found information about your ancestry, perhaps about you possible African origins, and you wish to confirm whether there is any truth.

Countries like America which have such a diverse immigration and slavery pattern ingrained in their history have a particular interest in DNA ancestry testing.

How does ancestry DNA testing work?

DNA ancestry testing will help you find you geogenetic origins; in more simple terms it will link you genetic make-up with that of different ethnic people that originated in different geographical parts of the globe. The UK ancestry DNA testing companies doing such tests often have access to a vast database which contains records of different populations and anthropological regions. They then go on to match those groups of which your DNA profile is most affiliated with and often plot this on a map besides showing your most likely ethnic groups expressed as a percentage (you may have a results which shows you are 65% European and 24% Indigenous American).

How is the test for ancestry done?

All ancestry DNA tests are done using an oral mouth swab.  The mouth swabs are usually sent in a testing kit which will contain the necessary instructions so that you may collect you DNA samples. Swabs are simply rubbed on the inside of the mouth to collect cheek cells from which DNA testing is done.

If you are looking for DNA ancestry testing in the UK always find a reputable company to ensure your results are as thorough as possible and moreover, that they are able to offer you the type of test you need (often people seeking ancestry tests may not be sure and may need guidance).

Cristiano Ronaldo does paternity test

Posted on | July 21, 2010 | No Comments

News is out that Cristiano Ronaldo’s son was born from a one night stand with an American waitress from Los Angeles. The Portuguese footballer, who is the most expensive player in the history of football and  currently plays for Real Madrid, has not revealed who the woman is. However, the player demanded a DNA paternity test to establish whether the child was truly his.

The mother of Cristiano Ronaldo’s child had their son early in 2010 as was confirmed by a paternity DNA test. Ronaldo refused to comment any further than giving very basic details including the fact that he was the exclusive guardian of the child. Speculations centered on the idea that the footballer had actually sought a surrogate mother to have his child; however, it now appears not to have been a surrogate mother but a one night stand with an American waitress he met in a Los Angeles restaurant last year.

Ronaldo’s child was born on June 17th- at the the time when his team, Real Madrid, had played against the Ivory Coast in the World Cup. A friend of Ronaldo’s says that Ronaldo, or Ronnie as he is known by friends, had approached the waitress during a stay in Los Angeles and went on to phrase a rather direct, indecent proposal for sex, allegedly telling her “you, me, ****,**** ”. Supposedly, the woman did not at first understand what he was trying to say. The friend also claims Ronaldo sometimes does pretend his English is poor especially in encounters with women. When the Los Angeles waitress discovered she was pregnant she contacted Jose Mendes, the footballer’s manager. Ronaldo unsurprisingly, demanded a paternity test to determine whether the child was truly his. Once the test result showed he was the biological father he went on provide her with a substantial sum of money and take his son back to Portugal.

Rumours have it that Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Ronaldo, took the role of overseeing and bringing up the child along with her son; the multimillionaire footballer has also allegedly paid the biological mother the sum of 10 million £ and asked her to relinquish maternal responsibilities on her child thus, allowing Ronaldo to be sole guardian along with his mother. Cristiano Ronaldo has given his son his own name, Cristiano. The footballer says he will probably not reveal the identity of the boy’s mother until he is 18 years of age; should the boy wish to look for his biological mother, he will find her living a very good lifestyle thanks to the money provided by his footballer father.

Many actors and sportsmen have done paternity tests and Cristiano Ronaldo is just one of the many. Other big names include world champion golfer Tiger Woods and top actors such as Mel Gibson and Keanu Reeves.
